Since the backup will be encrypted will I be able to download only a specific file from a specific day (within the 30 days) from B2 to my NAS? I tested Synology Drive but it is so slow on the same exact network.įile History seems quite good, I didn't test it a lot but it keeps versions of the files but I'm not sure whether I can easily download the folders I need from B2 should I need to, it adds a suffix with the date and time to every file so I think I have to re-import them from File History.įreeFile Sync (or any other free mirror software) can mirror my D drive to the backup folder on my NAS and in this way I can easily download/restore any file/folder but I miss the versioning: will B2 keep a 30 days versioning automatically should I delete or modify a file? So it would be fine only for onsite backups.

If I use Veeam, which is very fast (100 MB/s to the NAS) I get a single big file (600GB) and I understand that I won't be able to download only a portion of the backup from B2 should I have a problem to the NAS, I need to download the full archive and then extract the file/folders I need (not so quick). I found a lot of ways to perform the first step: the Windows default File History, Veeam, FreeFileSync, Synology Drive.Įxcept for Veeam the other softwares mirror my drive to the NAS with (File History, Synology Drive) or without (FreeFileSync, Veeam) versioning, which is something I'd like to have (I'm not sure I can get it from the B2 30 days versioning). I'd like to backup a volume (D:, my documents partition) to a shared folder on my NAS and then schedule an overnight encrypted backup from this folder to B2. I have W10 PC at home, a DS220+ and a Backblaze B2 account. I'm very new here but I read a lot of posts without finding an answer to my needs: I'm Italian so please excuse me for the errors )
